1) Who we are
Morton Herbert (“we,” “our,” “us”) is an elite boutique executive recruitment firm focused on placing finance and operations leadership (CFOs, COOs, and similar roles) for VC & PE-backed fintech companies across the United States.
This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we retain it, your rights, and how to contact us.
2) What we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
Through our website and forms, we may collect:
- Clients (Job Order Form): company details, role specs, compensation, process/timeline, search preferences, uploads (e.g., JDs, org charts, benefits).
- Candidates (Candidate Profile Form): contact info, employment history, seniority, preferences, location/relocation, compensation targets, achievements, resume upload.
- Referrers (Referral Forms – Employer & Job Seeker): referrer contact, the person/company referred, relationship, and context.
- General inquiries (Contact Form) & Newsletter sign-ups: contact details, message content, topic interests.
You may also share LinkedIn URLs and other professional links in applicable fields.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Standard web data such as IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, time on site, and form activity. This may involve cookies or similar technologies (see Section 6).
2.3 Information from third parties
- Public/professional sources (e.g., LinkedIn).
- Service providers that operate our site/forms, security, analytics, or email delivery.
3) How we use information
- Clients: scope and execute searches; communicate; prepare targeted outreach; manage interviews and offers.
- Candidates: evaluate fit; present profiles to clients with your consent; coordinate interviews; provide advice and updates.
- Referrals: validate, track, and administer referral submissions and rewards (if applicable).
- General: reply to inquiries, record preferences, manage newsletter interest (you can opt out anytime).
- Operations & compliance: site performance and security, fraud prevention, legal/contract obligations, recordkeeping, and enforcement of our agreements.
We do not sell personal information.
4) How we share information
We only share in these cases:
- With clients (about candidates): when you authorize us to present you for a role.
- With candidates (about clients): limited, non-confidential role details needed to evaluate fit.
- With service providers: website hosting, form processing, email/SMS delivery, security, analytics, storage/backup, bound by confidentiality and data-protection commitments.
- Legal/rights protection: to comply with law, court orders, or to protect our rights or users’ safety.
We do not publish client logos or job boards on our site to protect confidentiality.
5) Retention (how long we keep data)
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above, then securely delete or de-identify it.
- Candidates & referrers: up to 3 years from the last meaningful interaction (or sooner upon verified deletion request), unless required for legal/contract reasons.
- Clients & placements (business records): up to 7 years to meet contract, audit, and tax obligations.
- Website logs/analytics: typically 12–24 months (or provider default), aggregated/anonymized sooner where feasible.
- Legal holds: we may retain specific records as required by law or litigation.
6) Cookies & tracking
Our site may use cookies or similar tech for: security, session management, remembering preferences, and aggregate analytics to improve user experience. You can control cookies through your browser; some features may function differently if cookies are disabled.
reCAPTCHA: Certain forms may use Google reCAPTCHA to prevent abuse; use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s own terms and privacy policy.
Analytics: We may use analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand aggregate site usage.

7) U.S. state privacy rights

Email info@mortonherbert.com with the subject “Privacy Request”. We’ll verify your identity (and authority, if applicable) before fulfilling requests. Authorized agents may submit on your behalf with proper documentation.
8) Your choices
- Email & outreach: Reply “Do Not Contact” or tell us your preferences; we’ll honor them.
- Update/Delete: Ask us to update or delete your information (subject to legal exceptions).
- Cookies: Use your browser settings to refuse or limit cookies.
9) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (including hardened hosting, encryption where appropriate, access controls, backups, and monitoring). No method is 100% secure, but we continually improve our controls and vendor oversight.
10) Children
Our services are for professionals; we do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18.
11) U.S.-only scope
We market and provide services within the United States. If non-U.S. persons submit information, we handle it under this Policy; we do not target or solicit individuals in jurisdictions where our services are not offered.
12) Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” will reflect the latest version. If changes are significant, we’ll provide a more prominent notice.
